A scale-up is a business with:

An annual average revenue or employment growth rate over a 3-year period greater than 20% and a minimum of 10 employees at the start of this three-year period.

This new visa route, will allow fast-growing/ Scale-up businesses to hire high-skilled overseas workers with a salary of at least £33,000.There won’t be the technicalities of sponsorship, it will be through a fast-

track verification process. More details will be released in early 2022.

Speaking to reporters, about the shortage of skilled workers, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“What we have now is a system that allows us to control immigration, and that gives us flexibility. We can open up our markets if we need to, and of course we’ll keep everything under review,”

Now as per the Graduate Immigration Route, on completing their course, students are free to apply to stay in the country for another two years without the need to fetch a separate skilled worker visa and this would enable them to work in the UK for the period of permission to stay.

After 5 years of stay as a skilled worker one could apply for ‘Indefinite Leave to Remain’ which gives the status of ‘permanent resident’ of the UK.
